The inner workings of a coal power plant

Because the largest sources of anthropogenic (man- made) CO2 are coal- fired power plants, knowing how a typical power plant operates is key to understanding how CO2 is captured in such a plant, and how the CO2 is later used in EOR or other applications.

Courtesy of Plant Miller, a coal- fired plant in Alabama, we provide here a simple but complete virtual tour of the entire process of converting coal to electricity. Once you have reviewed this animation, we suggest reading our other blog on how CO2 is used in EOR.
